How to play Swirloo
Swirloo is a free multiplayer tornado game you play in your browser. Collect objects, grow your tornado and absorb the city. Public rounds last three minutes. The aim is to finish with the most points.
Play SwirlooDesktop controls
Move your cursor in the direction you want to travel. Hold the left mouse button or Space to boost. Release to return to normal speed.
Boost spends mass, so collect enough first. Bigger tornadoes move more slowly at normal speed.
Phone and tablet controls
Drag the on-screen joystick to steer. Hold the lightning button to boost.
Use a WebGL-capable browser and an internet connection. If the game feels slow, use the graphics button to reduce quality.
Start small, then eat the skyline
- Begin with leaves, litter and other small objects close to you.
- Build mass to unlock larger targets, including trees, cars and street lamps.
- Stay beside an eligible building while its absorption bar fills. Buildings take four seconds to absorb.
- Watch for moving taxis, emergency vehicles, trains and aircraft. Aircraft require a tornado tall enough to reach their flight altitude; height grows with mass. Their ground shadows help you line up the catch.
| Building | Minimum mass |
|---|---|
| Small | 400 |
| Medium | 800 |
| Large | 1,400 |
Battle other tornadoes
Check the mass above your opponent before attacking. You need at least 25% more mass and four seconds of contact to absorb them.
Winning earns points and mass, plus a 3× speed boost for five seconds. If a larger tornado starts absorbing you, boost away to break contact.

Quick answers
Do I need an account or download?
No. Open Swirloo in your browser, choose a name and play. The game is free.
Why can’t I absorb something yet?
Your mass must reach the target’s requirement. Buildings also need sustained contact, and aircraft need enough tornado height. Collect smaller objects first.
Can I turn off the sound?
Yes. Use the speaker button to switch sound on or off.
What if nobody else is online?
You can start with AI players, invite friends to a private room, or explore Sandbox on your own.
